This product is intended to give your students an opportunity to practice early blending skills. The easier it is for students to blend word parts together, the more likely they will become fluent readers.
You will need to print off and laminate all the pages, gather plastic spoons and label them each with a different beginning consonant.
To complete the activity students take a word family page, a recording sheet, and a spoon. They put the spoon at the beginning of each word family ending, blend the word together, and decide if that is a real word or a nonsense word. Students can then print their word on the recording sheet under the column of real word or nonsense word.
