This is an introductory lesson involving spreadsheets. It assumes a basic knowledge of spreadsheet cells and their possible contents: labels, values, or formulas. Use of this lesson by teachers provides a strong answer to the evaluator’s question: “How do you integrate technology into your curriculum?” This lesson aligns with the National Educational Technology Standards as outlined by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
Students enter their actual expenses into a new spreadsheet to show how they spent their money in the past month and year. If they don’t know the exact amounts, they should come as close as possible. Students will create a pie chart.
Detailed, illustrated, step-by-step student instructions are included.
