Combine social studies, literacy and art in this fun activity that encourages children to compare and contrast how children in different communities might live.
In one column, students are asked to describe the life Sarah, a student who lives in an urban community, while in the other column, students are encouraged to write about Eric, a student who lives in a suburban community. Prompts such as "How would Sarah get to school?" and "How might Eric get to school?" guide students in their writing.
At the end of the worksheet, students are asked to draw pictures of Sarah and Eric in front of their homes, making this a good worksheet for keeping in students' portfolios or hanging on the bulletin board.
This activity is also offered through my Learning About Communities bundle. Have a great school year!
