I put a new spin on this beloved song and gave it a Valentine's day look.
Although the melodic content is accessible for younger students (it uses only the pitches mi, so, and la) older students will enjoy playing this song on the recorder and adding a simple orff accompaniment. Rhythms in the song include the quarter note/rest, eighth note pair, and half note.
Instructions for a fun, interactive circle game are provided. Printables for the game (which include the students matching a pattern on the staff to a pattern a volunteer holds in stick notation) are also included.
Thorough teaching slides and instructions for three mini-lessons are provided as well.
