This 109 slide PowerPoint presentation is about as big as I could make it and still have it fit on this site. This truly became a labor of love (as projects often do). My goal was to take my students on a tour through the solar system by collecting as many pictures on each planet as possible. This is the first half of that tour, through the terrestrial planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars).
I have included brief descriptions on each planet, labeled pictures, and a quick review of the solar system, why planets are round, and how we measure distances in the solar system with astronomical units (AU).
Simple and easy to use. Can be used with Cornell notes.
If you like this tour, be sure to check out the second half, a tour through the gas giants and dwarf planets. You can follow these links to other lessons and activities in my solar system unit.
