Everything you will need to teach John Donne's "A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning." It is an exemplar for 11-12th grade as listed in the appendix for Common Core.
I included a plan to "flip" the curriculum and have students approach the poem in that way. I also have several ideas for Close Reading of the poem.
There are three vocabulary and literary term practice sheets.
I chose two paintings (Paton and Rossetti) about which students will make assertions/ supply evidence and then apply it all to to the poem.
There is a Venn Diagram to categorize information about the poem/painting and eventually write an analytical essay.
Finally, there are two more Donne poems ("The Broken Heart" and "The Flea") and students will research these and present in paired groupings.
I also created an 8 X 10 poster to use as you explore the poem.
