Hidden Treasure is a laboratory activity suitable for the beginning physics student. Oftentimes, the use of multiple vectors is confusing to a novice physics learner. This engaging exercise will demonstrate, through physical movement and graphing, the concept of vector addition. Students will be required to construct their own written step-by-step journey after making preliminary measurements within the confines of their classroom. (This can be modified for an outdoor environment.). Measurement and graphing techniques, right triangle calculations, and the ability to follow written directions are emphasized in this activity. Ultimately, the students will observe the results of vector addition and compare the quantities of distance to displacement.
