This is a delightful story about two very different mice who become friends. It was written by Kevin Henkes and is just as charming as all of his other stories.
This Reader's Theater has roles for six students. I also incorporate the use of the word "All" so that the children have to stay on their toes and be ready to read in unison with the other children. This prevents them from becoming distracted (particularly if their own role is small).
Reader's Theaters are such a fun way to promote the love of stories and reading and theater. I haven't found a class yet that doesn't enjoy them--whether performing or just reading them in a reading group or center.
I have included character names to be printed and made into headbands if you do a performance.
Please feel free to change the script in any way that you would like.
If you like this Reader's Theater, I have two more by Kevin Henkes: Owen and Sheila Rae, The Brave.
