Making and justifying judgments while reading is an often difficult skill to teach young readers. That is why I designed this powerpoint lesson to accompany the reading of, "Wilbur's Boast" in the Treasure's Reading Program. The lesson begins with direct instruction into the skill, is followed up with guided practice, further developed through the reading of the selection with scaffolding, and concludes with a reflection. The presentation is rich in visuals and will engage your students much more so than simply a lecture style. Additionally, you will find that time management improves and out of class work decreases. Your students win, and you do to!
