If you're a new or veteran teacher and you're looking for ways to help students; revise and edit in a fun way, organize your students through the writing process, get yourself organized so you know where your students are at any given time during the process, have a better way to have students draft so that editing and revising doesn't involve erasing...then I believe this packet will help you. I began by giving you a brief overview of what writing looks like in my classroom. I've included a way to help students build sentences in an almost unavoidable way...they will all add some sort of detail to simple sentences. The acronym C.U.P.S. will teach students to edit in a more efficient way. They can follow the Revising and Editing Checklist I've created to help them along the way (there are two versions for you to pick from to differentiate by ability). For both revising and editing tips, I've created and included 2 separate anchor charts for your classroom. On top of that you'll receive drafting paper that gives a visual reminder for students to write on every other line. That really helps squeezing in those details from revising. I've created and included a colorful wall chart that students can use clothes pins to keep track of where they are within the writing process. This will also help you to know who is working on what. There are two versions of this chart as well. Each page has a colorful pencil with the writing process on it (drafting, revising, editing, publish, and help). In this packet, you'll not only receive the items I've created but I've also included how I use them in my classroom. You won't be stuck with something you won't know how to use! I use the same tools in my classroom and my students love writing. They complain on days we're not able to write!
