A Year of Ancient History Journal Prompts (Egypt, Greece, and Rome)
From the Desk of The Ancient Minded Professor
This product contains approximately 200 writing/journal prompts that are based on important events from three ancient civilizations. I have focused on making ancient events important and relevant for today’s students.
The writing/journal prompts included in this product are: key events in history, great quotes from important people, one-liners, fun facts, finish the quote exercises, and tweets. I have ordered the prompts in the sequence of Egypt–Greece–Rome, going from earliest to most recent for each civilization. Because it is difficult to determine precisely the proper amount of material for each civilization, I have included a bonus section at the end that contains extra prompts that you can use to adapt these materials to your schedule.
For each of the prompts, I encourage students to write one to two sentences. Some of the questions are more complex and could be used for longer student responses. However, I have found that encouraging students to write even a few sentences enables them to see a topic from a new vantage point and to create new questions of their own. I hope you find these helpful.
I have included all of the lesson materials in two formats, PDF and PowerPoint, to make it easy to use.
