This unit of work is aimed at year one and two students. It outlines learning experiences to have the students investigate, design and make a chair to suit the needs of their teddy bear. The resources needed to make the chair are common everyday materials, such as cardboard. This unit of work integrates ICT with the use of still cameras and Microsoft Powerpoint to record the process of designing and making a teddy chair. I've taught this unit many times and students absolutely love it! It links back to their real world and they have a sense of ownership as they are using their own teddy bear. This is a highly engaging unit of work that is hands-on and it builds the concepts of built environments and meeting the needs of the user.
