There difference in meaning when we use the term ‘a few’ as opposed to ‘few’ is quite dramatic. The same can be said for ‘little’ and ‘a little’. (I have few friends. I have a few friends.) These activity cards help students explore this difference by inventing explanations to go with the phrase they are given on the printable sheets. Their choice of ending can then be discussed with other students if they are working in pairs or small groups. It’s a great way of exploring the subtlety and quirkiness of the English language.
