This reading comprehension passage is a little more than one page of reading and includes student tasks of finding details, drawing a picture, generating questions, and answering questions. It also has a link to a picture gallery that goes with the story. This is Chapter 2B of a series of passages about a reluctant teenager named Julian. In part 2, Julian and his grandma continue their travels in Alaska and see many interesting things. This passage is for beginning readers, struggling readers, reluctant readers and ELL learners. It is highly accessible text written primarily for older struggling readers, but it will work for grades 3 and up. It is a fun way to combine reading strategies with a link to an online picture gallery to help bring the story to life. It also makes a great Literacy Center activity.
