PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

AAAWWUBBIS words are the stars of this slideshow. Jeff Anderson's book Mechanically Inclined introduced his readers to this great way to teach how when a sentence begins with a dependent clause, you must insert a comma at a crucial point. In the slideshow, each one is showcased with an example. Most of these are from well known children's books.
At the end of the slideshow is a practice activity. In addition I recommend having the students go on a scavenger hunt for these types of dependent clauses with their own books. This could take place over a week or two as they collect them and post them in the room The slideshow could also be printed out as a reference for their notebooks and/or bulletin board.
