A set of six lessons with accompanying activities designed to teach nonverbal students who utilize high-tech augmentative and alternative communication systems (e.g., DynaVox, Prentke Romich, etc.) how to ask "What?" questions. Activities were designed to be compatible with numerous devices, not any one specific make or model. Activities include sight word recognition with and without assistance, suggestions for teaching "what" location and personalizing the device, an ice cream coloring question-answer activity, a card-flip question-answer activity, a riddle activity, and a story read-along activity. Again, all lessons center around teaching the student how to ask "what" questions when communicating with others. Activities also provide a great opportunity for students to engage in turn-taking by responding to such questions. Can be used with a single student or a group of two students. I hope you find it useful for your AAC users!
