We know that teaching AAC in context is the preferred method of teaching emergent communicators - and even those who move beyond emergent stages. But students often require additional, decontextualized learning, too. Core Word Roll and Fill-in is an activity for decontextualized core word practice with AAC systems, but can also be used with other emerging communicators who need to practice expanding their responses/utterances.
There are 24 core words represented on the dice.
☀ The objective of this activity is for AAC users to use the core word rolled on the die to:
find the word in their AAC system,
☀ create a 2-3 word phrase using that core word, or
☀ create a simple sentence using that core word.
