Story books provide a good decontextualized practice for teaching vocabulary to AAC users and other Emergent Communicators. Leslie Patricelli has written some board books for young children that illustrate the meanings of some important core vocabulary: quiet/loud, happy/sad, big/little.
I have created book companion interactive books for each of her 3 books featured in this resource, using many of the items from her books and providing a place for students to add the correct adjective to the page.
✺ I’ve also created a sorting activity for each adjective pair.
✺ There are 40 task/game/discussion cards to use for additional practice/reinforcement. 20 are for happy/sad, and 10 each for loud/quiet and big/small.
✺ There is a game board and a spinner to use for these if you like.
✺ I’ve included some additional activity ideas that you can use throughout daily routines or play activities to illustrate the vocabulary further.
✺ I've also included some basic information about core vocabulary and use of Aided Language Stimulation.
