Focusing on a few words per week helps students, especially beginning communicators, who are using AAC, to acquire new vocabulary. I've been making these handouts for my AAC classroom (13-15 year olds, most with ASD). Classroom staff, families, (and even SLPs!) need ideas of ways to incorporate it throughout the day. Varying the context and keeping motivation high is absolutely essential. I send these home and out to classroom staff at the beginning of the week to help give ideas. Then I post them around the classroom too and I encourage teachers and program aides to write in their own ideas if they've worked well!
