This is a Rec & Leisure lesson for one of my AAC classrooms (middle/early high school). The students are emergent communicators, most of whom are using LAMP. The goal is to get them to engage with each other and the lesson. They attend better to videos and need frequent opportunities to request, direct actions, and practice.
Included are video models of similarly aged peers or adults gaining attention using AAC or socially appropriate nonverbal language. Additionally, there is a 1st-person video model using an AAC device, which is EBP when teaching students who need high level of support. Videos hyperlinked to vimeo.
Two sets of visuals - one for LAMP icons and one for TouchChat. Instructions for teachers/staff to prompt activity.
Visuals prompt students to find people's names stored under "follow" in LAMP, as this is commonly where names are stored, but not in all cases).
Needed items for lesson: one small bag of chips, yellow candy (I used Lemon Heads), 1 iPad with a simple game (I used Fruit Ninja on "zen mode"), bubble wand, and stickers.
