This set of Visual Aids
is designed to assist children to answer reading comprehension questions in complete sentences with increasing complexity.
Directions and Use:
Laminate cards and either cut cards out individually, or fold over blank cards where students can write response.
1. Begin with reading short passages and answering ‘Who’ and ‘Doing What’ Questions - Example:
The boy is riding his bike. Add detail:
The boy with the hat is running.
2. As a student’s ability grows incorporate the third element ‘where’– Example:
The boy with the hat is running on the sidewalk.
3. Lastly incorporate ‘why’ – Example:
The boy with the hat is running on the sidewalk to get to the baseball game on time.
4. Can be placed in front of containers - Students can sort pictured elements to corresponding card/container
