When supporting our AAC users in the school setting, as SLP’s we should be able to provide each student with functional easy to use tools that will enhance/augment their communication within their immediate environment, followed by a carry-over activity or resource. As a school-based SLP, I realized many years ago, that there is a limited number of carry-over resources available for SLP’s working with AAC users, so 19 years ago, I made this low tech communication visual log which I have successfully utilized for years with many students who are AAC users.
I recently updated the graphics using smarty symbols from Custom Boards and have uploaded them in my TPT store to provide a ready to print and share set of communication visual logs for the entire year.
This is a low tech communication log which is sent home with the student after each session, with the circled or highlighted items that were targeted during the session, so the parent/teacher is aware of what was targeted and can practice any other activities attached by you, at your discretion.
