Do you meet with parents monthly or bi-weekly to involve them in the programming for their child only to be trapped in the “crisis of the week?” Do the parents you work with struggle with understanding their important role? When the parent training session begins, do you have a plan for what you will cover?
One of the primary purposes of parent training is to prepare parents to address their child's needs once their child is ready for discharge. Don't wait until the child achieves his goals to prepare the family for life after discharge. Providing parent training early in treatment empowers families and reduces the burden on the system to provide an over-abundance of direct services to children in need.
This course is designed to provide a structured format for introducing parent or caregiver training in an ABA program. While every child’s and family’s needs are different, much of the basic information you cover is the same. This course provides a guide while encouraging customization for each individual.
The course covers the basics of ABA broken into 4 main sections:
- Introduction to Parent Training
- Introduction to ABA
- Behavior Reduction
- Skill Acquisition
Altogether, this course offers 16 lessons, each with an assignment for the parent or caregiver. Many of the lessons provide abundant information that you can break into smaller lessons when needed to provide a pace appropriate to each family.
Most insurance companies require parent (or caregiver) training yet documenting their involvement can be difficult. Our Parent Training Assessment gives you the tools you need to measure parent and caregiver mastery of core topics.
Whether they understand it or not, parents and caregivers play a critical role in the success of their child’s ABA programming.
This bundle provides a comprehensive training and assessment program you can use with your families.
