ABBI SAW A WUWU is a mnemonic device used to help students learn dependent marker words that can come at the beginning of complex sentences. You can also use it to teach one category of transitional phrases -- as I do to tie this into my CLAQET method, an comma method created by Writing Whiz. Here I have created two worksheet that give an overview of ABBI SAW A WUWU. One has just the words for student to memorize as sentence starters (followed by commas), and one highlights the words in sentences with students needing to add commas. I have also included an answer sheet for your convenience.
