ABC Book Project is a great way to introduce or practice informational writing! Students pick a topic of choice (could be related to Science/SS standards or tied into reading/biographies, etc) and write an "All About" book organized around the alphabet! For example, if a student wrote a book about animals they might start with A is for Aardvark, B is for Bear, C is for Cougar, etc. On each page, students will write a short paragraph about their topic and add an illustration! There is a planning sheet to guide the way, ideas for mentor texts, and a rubric to guide students and make assessment simple! This is such a fun and creative way for students to practice informational writing!
