This is an EASY but extremely EFFECTIVE review activity for ANY unit and ANY subject. It is a two page review with 12 boxes. Each box contains 2-3 letters, and students are asked to circle one letter and then write/draw a key word from the unit/topic and explain it.
in the "A or B" box...
...if your unit was on Reconstruction after the Civil War, a student may circle A and write about "abolitionists"
...if your unit was on geometry, a student may circle A and write about "arrows"
...if your unit was based on a literature book, a student may choose a character that started with A or B
Your requirements would depend on the level of your students. When I taught elementary school, I just had the kids write a word and illustrate their keyword. Now that I teach middle school, I require my students to write as much as they can about the keyword that they choose.
I have found that this simple review activity is highly effective! It works very well with units that have notes because it gets kids reading their notes to review. I've even extended this activity for a quick and easy bulletin board display! Simply have kids choose one of their boxes and make it larger to make an "Alphabet Review Board".
This worksheet also works well as an assessment, study guide, and partner activity.
