This chart is used to teach beginning readers the letters and sounds. I read it like this with my students. "A, sound of a, apple. B, sound of b, ball. C, sound of c, cat, etc." It really works! As we say the sound, we trace the letter name. This chart and process is based on the Jan Richardson book and the Fountas and Pinnell system Leveled Literacy Intervention. If you follow either of these lesson formats, you will know these pictures, and this routine! The tactile touch of forming the letters, hearing the sounds, and seeing the letters works! Happy reading and writing!
