This classroom handbook is fully customizable and editable!!
The classroom handbook will be one of the first things that your parents will receive from you as their child’s new teacher and it is surely going to make a good first impression. The presentation of this handbook makes you look thoughtful, prepared, and professional.
The content of the classroom handbook will provide parents with all the essential information about your class. Here are a few topics that are already included:
About Me (you the teacher)
Behavior Policy/Class Rules
...And More! (Over 36 pages to choose from!)
PLUS there are blank templates so that you can fully customize your handbook! (You will need Microsoft PowerPoint)
My #1 favorite way is using a 4x6 photo album. I found mine at Dollar General for $1 each. The one I used could hold 36 photographs.
I love these because they’re inexpensive and they actually make your handbook look like a mini-book! Plus I don’t have to laminate or print on cardstock. Also, as opposed to classroom handbooks that come in the form of flipbooks, brochures, or packets, if you need to update one page, you just slide it right out! Super convenient! I also put my business card magnet in the very back of the book.
Because it’s not just another packet/brochure, it will not get lost in the shuffle of back to school paperwork. The durability will be something that benefits the parents as they reference it throughout the year.
Another option is to put it on a ring (pretty it up with ribbon!). Be sure to print on cardstock and laminate the front and back cover.
As I mentioned before, I used a 4x6 photo album that holds up to 36 photos, if you do the same you will need to choose the slides that are most important to you. I have included more than 36 possible pages so you will have to narrow it down. Do not feel like you have to tell the parents every minor detail about your classroom. You can get down to the nitty gritty throughout the school year.
