To play these games, students will pick a card and then put a clothespin on the picture that starts with the letter sound. (The second set is to match the Capital Letter to the Lower Case Letter.) To make the cards “self checking”, simple put a little mark “X” on the back of the correct picture (or letter). Do this BEFORE laminating your cards for durability. The students can see if they are correct by turning over the card, after putting on the clothespin, and see if it is where the mark “X” is! If the clothespin does not match up, they turn the card back over and try again!
These games can be played at Center Time, for Remediation or even great as a “Warm-Up” at your Guided Reading Time!
The pictures correspond with Jack Hartmann’s Learning Letter Sounds and Vowel Samba. The letter “X” is “as in fox”! You can check my store for song card charts that go along with both songs and help the students know what each picture is.
In the Beginning Sounds set, there are 2 cards for each vowel... One for the Long Vowel Sound and one for the Short Vowel Sound!
