Are your students practicing alphabetical order? Are you teaching about fiction books and want to extend your students’ knowledge base by teaching how fiction books are organized in a library? Do you have a group of students that will be helping you shelve books? If so, then this is a fun activity that your kids are sure to enjoy!
This meaningful lesson has real world application when it comes to the organization of the library. The focus is on the fiction section, which are alphabetized by author's last name. There are 40 cards, each with the name of a popular children's author. Students will look to the LAST name, to order themselves from A - Z, just as the books would be ordered on a shelf. Get kids moving and learning at the same time!
Blank task cards are included, so you can add an author of your choosing. All task cards have lines for easy cutting.
