I had a teachable moment when I created these letters! My Kindergarten boys were working on their letter name and letter sound fluency. On the way back to their classrooms, we have to walk dow a series of steps and I noticed the boys saying their alphabet on the way.
Lo and behold, there are 28 steps on the way! I use the START and END to fill the last two spots. The kids love it and it serves as a great way for me to quickly assess understanding.
I can send students to a specific letter and then have them give me the name and sound, I can have the kids say their ABCs as they walk down, or their favorite is to do the "Double Step": Use two feet on each step first saying the name and then the sound it makes!
I should also note that other classes and grades have begun using these letters as well!
