The ABCD Debrief is a great choice for fostering a growth mindset and solution-focused thinking in your classroom.
It is a conflict resolution tool that I use in my own Behaviour and Learning Assistance Program classroom. It affords students an opportunity to learn that their choices have lasting impacts, but that they are still in control of the magnitude of those impacts based on each choice they make afterward.
The ABCD Debrief can be used for arguments or issues between students, between staff and students, and can even be used to coach students in resolving issues they may be having with their family members. It is a five-step process that encourages students to think about the conflict they found themselves in as a whole, and not just its climax where there was a shouting match, physical altercation, or whatever the case may be.
