Elementary/middle school students all over America are now taking the ACT Aspire tests....Yikes! The writing test requires students in grades 3-8 to type their response in 30 minutes (if they don't have accommodations), so it's imperative that pre-writing skills are practiced early and often throughout the year to ensure success.
Using this planner for that practice is a must! It incorporates the necessary elements of reflective narratives to help your students "sparkle" on the Aspire in a kid-friendly, easy to use, condensed format. The ACT Aspire tests 3rd graders in the reflective narrative mode, so this planner is geared for quick and easy organization to aid students of that age. Most 3rd graders can't type more than two fully developed paragraphs in only 30 minutes, so this planner gives you the most bang for the buck. Also, because the "reflectiveness" of the piece is of the utmost importance, note that the second paragraph is almost completely made up of those starters to ensure that base is covered.
As students learn to use it and memorize their favorite starters, wean them from the planner as test time approaches. Whether you give the Aspire or not, this planner is a handy organizational tool to use in the classroom.
