This activity is part of a series I am developing to prepare students for the English section of the ACT.
It includes a single reading passage, a five-paragraph essay, followed by twenty questions in the style and format of the ACT. All twenty questions focus on maintaining verb tense consistency..
The 8 pages include:
Cover page (1 page)
Reading passage (1 page)
Questions (3 pages)
Answer key (3 pages)

ACT ENGLISH TARGETED TEST PREP BUNDLE
The concept for this series involves using the ACT testing format for practicing the concepts, but WITHOUT mixing the concepts (which the ACT does). For example, in Parallelism Practice, all questions about the passage involve parallelism ONLY.
This series presents the same reading passage--adapted seven different ways--to target the following concepts:
(1) Sentence Structure (including sentence-structure commas and semicolons)
(3) Agreement (subject-verb and pronoun-antecedent)
(4) Unnecessary Verb Tense Shifts
(5) Contractions and Possessive Forms
(7) Irrelevance,Verbosity, and Redundancy
The final three worksheets of the series mix the concepts, mimicking the format of the ACT English section. Having practiced each concept in isolation first, the students should not find the final worksheets intimidating.
The Comprehensive Worksheets may also be used as pre or post-tests to see which of the target worksheets would be most beneficial for individual students.
(8) Comprehensive I
(9) Comprehensive II
(10) Comprehensive III*
In addition, I have included a Targeted Skills Key, which allows you to quickly pinpoint which targets a student may be weak in. For example, if a student misses problems 2 and 13 on Comprehensive I, you can check the Targeted Skills Key to learn that numbers 2 and 13 deal with commas. You may then choose to have the student work only the Targeted Test Prep worksheet for Commas, found here:
The Targeted Skills Key is a diagnostic tool that allows greater efficiency by allowing you to quickly conclude which Targeted Test Prep Worksheet(s) each student needs.
*All Targeted Test Prep Worksheets use the same satirical essay about 'Ending Grammar Class' except Comprehensive III (which is a rebuttal to original essay).
