This ACT strategy sheet has links to references, practice tracking for metacognitive study, and specific instructions for the ACT test which was updated to include 5 passages in 4 sections in February 2015. This worksheet is part of my ACT training that is critical. I use it in my classroom and in personal tutoring sessions. The students are to read through the instructions page, pull up or print out a packet of sample passages, and then practice using the practice tracker. A score of 23 or higher indicates college readiness. I recommend that students practice the flyover strategy until they have gained mastery of the test. This method has proven successful to my students as long as the students maintain fidelity to practice. This method has resulted in an increase in student scores by 5-10 points on the Reading ACT section. It is responsible for at least one perfect ACT reading score.
