PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Present History has created a freshman-level series of readings, based primarily around world history primary sources. Each reading is followed with three to five ACT-like questions. This resource includes early flood stories in world history, a description of dinner with Attila the Hun, an excerpt from Olaudah Equiano's narrative on his capture as an African slave, an excerpt on the travels of Marco Polo, a secondary summary of Islam, a secondary account on medieval technology, a selection from the Japanese government's Act of Seclusion of 1636, Enlightenment writings from Voltaire and Jonathan Swift, a letter from a Chinese commissioner to Queen Victoria on the opium trade in China, an interview about child labor in England, and an excerpt on the description of Russia on the eve of the Russian Revolution in 1917. These readings can be applied to your world history units as a formative assessment or simply as ACT practice.
