Are you required to show evidence of ACT prep or to include ACT standards on your lesson plans? This resource aligns 30 current ACT Reading and English Standards with 9 Scoring Components from the AP English Language and Composition official course standards. I made this to use as a reference tool when lesson planning for my AP class. Wow your administrators and colleagues by including ACT prep every lesson without having to spend hours sorting through the ACT standards or resorting to ACT question a day bellringers that students tire of when used all year.
Your copy of this original resource includes:
A table aligning the ACT standard with AP scoring component with ACT standard explanation included. The table has:
20 ACT English standards across 5 different strands
10 ACT Reading standards across 6 different strands
Aligned with 9 official College Board AP Language &
Composition Scoring Components
2 Appendices to help save time when planning or brainstorming lessons:
o Appendix A is an alphabetized acronym reference list for ACT standards covered in the alignment.
o Appendix B includes the full text of the AP Scoring Components covered
Note: The ACT standards included are the 30 that align with the learning points in my classroom curriculum. I have used ACT standards chiefly from the 20-23 scoring level band, since that is what we use at my school because an ACT composite score of 21 is our state's benchmark for college readiness. Some of the standards are selected from the 28-32 score band, and some from the 33-36. Please note that all ACT standards align vertically by "strand" that increases in complexity the further you go up the scoring range. Therefore, many AP lessons will take these standards deeper than the 20-23 range included in this resource, but the topic of the ACT standard will still align. You can, of course, choose to align all the standards according to the band representing your school's and/or self-selected ACT score goal for your students.
