ACTIVE English Tense Chart with regular and irregular verbs.
I ask my students to learn the chart with the current verbs provided. Starting with Simple Past, Simple Present, Simple Future; and moving on to Continuous, Perfect, Perfect Continuous.
Once they have memorised the 12 tenses, I give them a new verb and ask them to run through the chart with the new verb. I then build on the clause to make the sentence longer.
I do this as a warmer and offer willing students a prize for completion. I write a list on the board of willing students for the following day. The rest of the class listens and learns and has the opportunity to join the list when ready.
