### PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Scale Up A Candy Bar (Fractions)
Appropriate for grades 4-6 & Homeschool

PURPOSE:
Use this activity to guide your students through understanding how fractions may be used in real life. Your students will be required to measure an image length and width to a fraction of an inch. Then they will use division to create a grid on that image and scale the image up to 5 times the size.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:
This product contains:
☆3 pages of instructions for students to read and use
☆Printable Candy Bar Wrappers to Scale
☆Samples of Student Work

STORY:
I had seen that someone had this idea before – this is certainly not an original. So it is free to you but I went ahead and wrote out step-by-step how to do it. This activity took my students anywhere from 3-5 hours to complete. I would recommend this version of the activity for work with multiplication and division of fractions commonly found in 5th and 6th grades.

POSSIBLE EXTENSIONS:
If you are more interested in completing this activity using ratios and proportional relationships, check out my alternate version of this activity: Scale Up a Candy Bar (Ratios)
