Pilgrim adapted books are a great way to engage beginning readers during the Thanksgiving season or during a study of colonial life. This 14 page interactive book integrates "what doing?" questions, he/she pronouns, and action words related to jobs Pilgrim children did during the time of the first Thanksgiving.
The jobs/actions preformed by Pilgrim children included in the book are:
stacking firewood, stirring the pot, chopping wood, feeding chickens, gathering eggs, sewing clothes, making tools, serving turkey, churning butter, harvesting vegetables, weaving baskets, chopping down trees
Each page has the same repetitive question and sentence frame:
"What is the Pilgrim boy/girl doing?" .
"He/she is (action/verb) a/the (noun). "
Students complete the sentence frame on each page by selecting the matching picture from the picture bank and attaching to the corresponding page.
