I do this awesome project with my Advanced Spanish 3 students, following a unit on social issues, immigration, and a variety of real world skills. This combines a variety of practical skills into a fun project that lets them use their imaginations. Each group (I use groups of three) gets an imaginary family with designated circumstances. The group has to figure out how to get them from Country A to Country B, and how to get this family established in a home, school, and other necessities in their target country. The countries are based on real migration pairs. My kids are doing this project right now, and they love it. It's challenging, but they really get into it, and they love knowing that they have the skills to manage real life issues.
