The opening lesson on Africa was created to introduce the theme of location and region. The visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning experiences align to the C3 Social Studies Content Standards and scaffold student experiences from country to regional identification as defined by the National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE) and the Association of American Geographers (AAG). The hands-on activities, research, discussion, and decision making strategies flow throughout the lesson. The assessment includes the grading key. The activities are in a team design, and can also be completed individually.
