"For my struggling and alternative learners, this was a home-run of a test prep. With the topic of concussions being so relevant in current events, coupled with the number of athletes I have in class, having an informational writing assignment such as this really helped break the often overwhelming realm of informational text into something much more manageable. Students were engaged, challenged, and more prepared after completing this activity." Katherine S.
"Excellent resource. Mirrors the AIR test!" - Krysann D.
This product is a practice for the AIR ELA grades 9-10 test. It includes teacher notes, links to nonfiction articles on the same topic, 14 objective questions analyzing and comparing the two articles, and an argumentative writing prompt. The questions were modeled after what has been released as sample items for the AIR practice test. I have used a high-interest topic, the connection between concussions, football, and CTE. (If you have previously purchased my nonfiction unit on concussions and football, these are new (more recent) articles and new questions). The questions could easily be copied and pasted into a Google Form if you want to assess your students online.
