Product Description
This prompt uses the exact language that the AIR test uses for their writing prompts. It has them compare two different texts and cite evidence from both. It has students write an argument, which is ALWAYS what shows up on the test. Use the article titled "PRO/CON: Should the U.S. scrap the recycling program?" from newsela.com in order to print a copy for each student. You can choose to differentiate based on the students' lexile levels or just print one version of the text. It's your choice. The rubric for the AIR test argumentation writing can be found at this link: http://oh.portal.airast.org/core/fileparse.php/3094/urlt/ELA_Rubric_Argumentation_G6-12.pdf
