These digital activities in Google Slides™ are a great way for students to investigate and learn all about MAGNETS & MAGNETISM
This paperless product will work on desktops, laptops, Chromebooks™and iPads®.
12 activities are included:
★ What is MAGNETISM?: Students view the embedded YouTube™ video & answer 4 questions by typing in the chart
★ Natural Magnets: Students use the highlighting tool to highlight important info about lodestone/magnetite
★ Types of Magnets: Student drag and drop the word labels to their correct location (5 types of magnets are covered: bar, horseshoe, U-shaped, ring and bar)
★ Magnetic Elements: Students come up with their own mnemonic device to remember the 3 magnetic elements: iron, nickel and cobalt
★ Poles:Students use the highlighting tool to highlight important info about the north and south poles of a magnet
★Attract: Students type their own definition and complete the magnet diagram
★Repel: Students type their own definition and complete the magnet diagram
★Magnetic Items: Students drag and drop the items that are magnetic onto the poles of the magnet (Optional: have these every day objects availble along with some magnets for students to test out!)
★Magnetic vs. Nonmagnetic T-Chart: Students will find images using the built in image search. They will sort their images. iPad users can use the camera to take pictures of items around the room that are magnetic and nonmagnetic.
★ Our Planet: The is a cloze activity in which students will drag and drop the missing words of a paragraph so it will make sense. The paragraph covers how our planet is a gigantic magnet.
★ Compass: Students will click on a link that will take them to an article on Wonderopolis and learn how a compass works. They will summarize their learning in the text box. (Students who have difficultly reading text could always install a Text to Speech chrome extension to help them with the article. The teacher could also read the article out loud to students)
★ Find It: This is a word search of important vocabulary words related to magnetism that students will complete using the fill tool and drag and drop check marks that are provided.
All slides contain directions in the speaker notes. Slide #2 contains directions for both computer and iPad® users.
Students can complete these activities individually
. They can even use the built in Explore tool to do some additional research.

This product comes as a link in a PDF file. First, make sure you are signed into your Google™ account. Click on the link and you will be prompted to "Make a Copy". Rename the file to whatever you would like. It will be sent directly to your Drive! Disperse to your students via Google Classroom™, Google Drive™ Shared folder, your Learning Platform, etc..
