I wanted an all about me activity for my students to do on the first day of school, but everything I find is too difficult for my special learners. They aren't able to answer questions like, "What did you do this summer?" or "What is your goal for this school year?" I needed something basic and simple. Something engaging, yet simple enough that they could have the opportunity to tell about themselves.
This lapbook does just that! It's a great first day of school activity that students with special needs and even kinders can do with little assistance. Only 6 simple rectangular cuts are required, some glueing, writing a couple of numbers, and coloring...and your students will have a nice "All About Me" booklet to show off in no time! And with little stress for you!! It doesn't get much easier than that!
You can also choose to make mini-books instead of lapbooks (shown in cover page photo). Instead of glueing the rectangles onto a folder, staple them together on the left edge to bind the pages into a booklet.
Since I have returning students each year, I have to create new ideas each year so they aren't doing the same thing year after year! Otherwise, the activity we did last year was a huge hit! Check it out below.
