MORE DETAILS:
These puzzles are meant to be somewhat of a challenge – which is perfect to promote a growth mindset. Students will have to keep in mind the shape of the puzzle and persevere if the task seems challenging. Tell students to rotate the pieces around and analyze what they can do differently until they fit. This is where their critical thinking and 21st Century skills will come into play!
Students with special needs also do well with these once they understand the concept. With this fun game format your students will stay engaged while practicing necessary multiplication skills!
TIP - When typing out the various questions and answers, start with question #10 and work your way up. THEN go back to #1-9. This way 1A doesn't try to fill the 11A spot. ALWAYS double check the puzzle before handing it to the students.
If you are using the put together puzzle, print and cut on the lines for instant centers. Or use the pre-cut puzzles so the students don't know what puzzle they are creating. This keeps an extra layer of suspense! If you have some extra time, let your first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth graders decorate the finished puzzle.
Puzzle mats are included in some of the puzzles to allow you to support students who do not understand the shape. If the shape you are working with is missing a puzzle mat, simply delete the text boxes and you have an instant mat for them!
These colored masterpieces can then be used as artwork for the classroom, to help decorate a bulletin board, or be hung in the hallway to add some festive art flair. (And no administrator complaints since it’s an academic activity!)
Homeschool Families: You’re going to love these puzzles as a last minute resource! The next time you have a crazy hectic home school day – grab, download, type in your problems, and go! You’ll get your sanity back, fit in some academic work, AND have fun at the same time.
The answer key is made by YOU! Print two copies of your final puzzle – one for your student to cut up and put together and another one to keep in its full shape to use as an answer key. This way you can ensure all the numbers, words, or letters are in the correct order and that the shape is fully formed.
The shapes included are an apple, cat, pumpkin, football, turkey, evergreen tree, gingerbread man, snowman, mitten, 100th Day, heart, teeth, clover, flower, egg, acorn, owl, candy corn, reindeer, winter / Santa hats, penguin, hot chocolate mug, groundhog, Abraham Lincoln, horseshoe, bunny, rainbow, butterfly, crown, flip flop, leave, bat (animal), dog tag (military), train, stocking, sleigh, candy cane, igl00, mask, George Washington, leprechaun hat, bee, raindrop, high heel, tie, Martin Luther King Jr, football helmet, sneaker, whistle, baseball bat, baseball glove, circle, cross, Earth Day (recycling), dog, numbers 0-9, letters A-Z, Pi symbol, Dog, Cat, Koala, Dinosaur, Shark, Fish, Horse, Panda, Polar Bear, Raccoon, Ladybug, Kangaroo, Teddy Bear, Frog, Crab, Llama, Whale, Moose, Turtle, Snail, Lamb, California, New York, Florida, Texas, jet, airplane, rocket, spaceship, eagle, star, ribbon, Statue of Liberty, poppy, playing cards (heart, spade, club, diamond), lemon, pie, banana, popsicle, pineapple, popcorn, ice cream, mermaid, moon, ghost, glame, pirate hat, foot, hand, palm tree, cactus, shell, sunglasses, tree, sun, gnome, cloud, lightning bolt, ring, tshirt, anchor, lips, and poop.
