As a Family Child Care Provider and working in child care centers I had several regular things that I set out every Fall. One of the things I did was a “Letter Line” that hung on a light rope somewhere in room. I made one complete “Alphabet Line” and then displayed the “Letter of the Week” in various other areas. As the kids got older they were able hang letters on another line in their own “language”. Soon they were spelling words! It was very helpful to have several sets of these letters available. Often I would hear the children discussing the letters.
Learning in pre-school happens most often “on the run”!
