Purpose: To again review concepts related to American history.
Directions: Print enough copies of the Bingo board for each student in your class. Ask students to look at the list of terms, names and events at the bottom of the board. Next, ask students to fill in each box with a term, name or event. Each item can only be used once! They can place their selections in any box. The goal is for each student to have a different board. Please notice that there are 45 choices and only 24 Bingo boxes. This is to ensure that all boards are different. Finally, tell students the pattern needed in order to win the game. (5 across, 5 down, diagonal, etc.) [There are a FEW words that will never be called sense they have no cards]
Teaching Tip: You will only read off one item per turn. Once a student bingos they will receive FOUR bonus points. The game will continue with the next winner getting THREE bonus, then next gets TWO, and last gets ONE or however you chose to do the game. You can assign the bonus points to homework, test, or grading period.
Marking the board: Over the years I have had students mark their board first in black ink then I initial the upper corner box, then as we play they mark their answers in a COLORED marker/pencil – easy to see and very easy to check.
Print the cards on cardstock and laminate so that they last from class to class, year to year. Reshuffle the cards each class so that no one knows to order you will call them out.
