First, I have used these cards/questions in the past as I taught middle school American history and have had great success during that first few days of school. It actually kept my students quiet for a little while I had some of the paperwork required of teachers.
You never know what may and may not help, but I have always tried to find something that was a little lighter and required much less work but gave me a chance to find out just what my students knew and did not know.
I would use these for several day – giving each student a different set of questions each day – or you can just run off a classroom set of each set (1-4, 5-8, 9-12, etc.) each class period. I just did not want all students doing the same question on the same day.
But hey, do what works for you. These are just my "ideas" and it worked for me and my students, year after year after year.
Here are 32 state history questions, plus one blank set of four just so you may write/ask anything I might have missed. Email me if you find something that should be here – email@example.com . Enjoy your reading, I know I do.
